Stony Creek Metropark (Shelden Trails)
Description: Located in the west side of the park at the West Branch picnic area, the Shelden Trails (aka Mountain Bike Trails) at Stony Creek Metropark feature a professionally designed and built system of five stacked loops of one-way single track and an expansive network of bidirectional two track trails.
The trails are accessible from all parking lots off of West Branch and via pedestrian entrances along Shelden Road. Starting from the West Branch trailhead is the kid-friendly Grom loop. Beach is hand-cycle accessible, and perfect for new riders, with obstacles and clearly marked bypasses. Bee Line takes the difficulty up a notch and connects to the storied Roller Coaster and Back Nine. The Pines is a great mix of mostly easy singletrack and features a tabletop jump line.
Toilets and potable water are available at the trailhead and at the C lot further into the West Branch area. Picnic shelters are available for reservation.
The single track trails are closed during erosive conditions, be sure to check the park website for details. During winter, when snow is on the ground, the two track trails are closed to bikes.
